ECN-ACEDE Seminar ideas on Social Economy
Jon Olaizola Alberdi (Mondragon University) will investigate the connection between just transition, social impacts and cooperativism. Through a literature review, he will identify the principles of justice in just transition and their relationship with cooperativism. His aim is to create a comprehensible framework for cooperatives to assess their weaknesses and opportunities, although the lack of legislation is a limitation.
Juan Pedro Soriano Hernández (University of Alicante) will study Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) initiatives in Baix Vinalopó (Alicante). He argues that it is necessary to change the productive model to face the ecological and social crisis caused by capitalism. He considers that SSE initiatives are the best response, but they face problems of sustainability and impact. He will analyse the causes of these difficulties through interviews and surveys with local experts and organisations.
