About Us

ACEDE Entrepreneurship Section

The ACEDE Entrepreneurship Section was officially established in 2001, although its first working group meeting took place at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1999.

Section is composed of 200 researchers dedicated to researching the entrepreneurial phenomenon.

Objectives of the Section

The main goal of the Section is to promote research, teaching, and knowledge transfer in the field of entrepreneurship. Additionally, the Section aims to foster collaboration with other academic networks, public administrations, and key stakeholders in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The Section focuses on the following specific objectives:

  • Encourage the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and resources among its members to facilitate teaching, research, and dissemination activities related to business creation.
  • Promote interaction with non-university organizations and stakeholders to strengthen the connection between knowledge transfer, research, and entrepreneurship education, aligning with the needs of businesses and society.
  • Participate in the design of policies that support and promote entrepreneurial activities.
  • Analyze entrepreneurship management activities within universities (such as entrepreneurship directors, vice-chancellors, and deans) to share experiences and strengthen actions in this field.
  • Enhance collaboration with the Spanish Entrepreneurship Observatory and international research projects such as GEM, GUESSS, and PSED.
  • Foster critical analysis and collaboration among Section members to strengthen academic activities related to entrepreneurship within universities.

Benefits of Section Membership

  • Discounted registration fees for the International Research Workshop on Entrepreneurship, co-organized with the Spanish Entrepreneurship Observatory.
  • Participation in the Section’s working meetings, held during the ACEDE Annual Conference and the Section’s Workshop. Additionally, an intermediate meeting is held every January.
  • The opportunity to submit news for publication in the ACEDE Newsletter and on the Section’s social media profiles, in accordance with the established guidelines.
  • Exclusive access to research conducted by the Section’s working commissions.
  • Priority access to workshops and seminars organized by the Section.

The Section's objectives are pursued through the work of four specialized commissions: Teaching, Research, Knowledge Transfer, and Management. Additionally, a commission for early-career researchers (ECN-Entrepreneurship) is part of the Section's structure.

Teaching Commission

Objective: Identify and share best practices in entrepreneurship education and provide training for Section members.

Research Commission

  • Members: Sara Arbelo (University of La Laguna); Andreu Blesa (Jaume I University); Nuria Calvo (University of A Coruña); Esther Hormiga (University of Barcelona); Esperanza Gil (University of La Laguna); Tatiana López (Autonomous University of Barcelona); Sara Martínez (University of Valencia); Merche Segarra (Jaume I University); Silvia Sosa (University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).

Objective: Analyze the nature and scope of entrepreneurship research conducted at Spanish universities and provide research training for Section members.

Knowledge Transfer Commission

  • Coordinators: Pablo Antonio Muñoz Gallego (USAL) - Virginia Barba Sánchez (UCL-M).
  • Members: Lucio Fuentelsanz Lamata (UNIZAR), Fran García Rodríguez (ULL), Ana Isabel Lemes Hernández (ULPGC), José Ruiz Navarro (UCA), Pablo Antonio Muñoz Gallego (USAL), Virginia Barba Sánchez (UCL-M).
  • Note: The commission is currently inactive due to time constraints faced by its members.

Objective: Analyze and propose strategies for improving knowledge transfer between universities and businesses in the field of entrepreneurship.

Management Commission

  • Coordinators: Rosa María Baptista Canino (University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria); Constantino García Ramos (University of León).
  • Members: Carlos Jesús Cano Guillén (University of Almería); José María Gómez Gras (Miguel Hernández University); Sofía Louise Martínez Martínez (University of Málaga); Guillermina Tormo Carbó (Polytechnic University of Valencia).

Objective: Identify new insights into entrepreneurship governance within the Spanish university system.


ECN – Entrepreneurship (Early-Career Researchers Network)

  • Coordinators: Sofía Louise Martínez Martínez (University of Málaga); Sufia Mohand Amar (University of Granada).
  • Members: Ariadna Monje Amor (University of A Coruña); Diana Seguí Mas (International University of Valencia); Sara Arbelo Pérez (University of La Laguna); Sara Enrique Belda (University of Valencia); Sara Martínez Gregorio (University of Valencia); Tatiana López Orozco (Autonomous University of Barcelona).

Objective: Identify the needs of PhD students and early-career researchers in entrepreneurship within ACEDE. The commission aims to add value by facilitating networking, collaborative spaces, events, training, and access to useful resources for researchers at this stage of their careers.
